Upper Graniteville is the top of Barre’s granite hill, beside the E.L. Smith Quarry, which Rock of Ages describes as the largest deep-hole granite quarry in the world. The way to us is one long downhill. Take Graniteville Road through Graniteville village, then Quarry Hill Road and Quarry Street to South Main.

1. From Cogswell Street, turn left onto Graniteville Road1.1 mi
2. At the end, turn right to stay on Graniteville Road through the village1.3 mi
3. Continue as it becomes Quarry Hill Road, then Quarry Street1.4 mi
4. Turn right onto South Main Street (VT 14)0.6 mi
5. Arrive at 69 S Main St, on your left

The first mile is Upper Graniteville’s own stretch of Graniteville Road. Past the Rock of Ages visitor center at number 558 it bends right through Graniteville village and starts the long run toward Quarry Hill. It’s steep in places. We’d rather you arrive in fourteen minutes than eleven.

Order before you come down

Twelve minutes is long enough that ordering ahead pays off. Use the online menu and we’ll have it weighed and bagged by the time you reach the bottom of Quarry Street.

Walk in instead and you can pick from the jars yourself.
