From the State House to South Main
From downtown Montpelier, take Main Street to Berlin Street (US 2) and head out of town. US 2 turns into the Paine Turnpike. Take Fisher Road to VT 62 east, ride it into Barre, turn right onto North Main and bear right onto VT 14 south. We’re on the right. That’s 7.4 miles, about fifteen minutes off-peak.
